BAILEY

Tuesday 17th July
1700 Bailey says goodbye to his BL home and starts the journey to his new BP home. Pip is sad and Harry is fairly matter of fact but with a wistful tone in his voice. Susan a bit worried about the car journey but Bailey seems ok and sleeps more or less until the Hatfield Tunnel.
1840 he arrives at his new abode and settles into the lounge/kitchen area quite well after skirting around the room several times and sniffing all the corners. He understands where his food is and likes looking out into the garden. Loves his old scratching post even though it is falling apart and shedding bits all over the place! Alan brushes him and gets completely covered in cat fur!!! Worried about David and his asthma with all that fur around the house. Thought Al was a little wheezy but he said not. Val wants to swap her Bear Cat for Bailey - no deal! Ruby comes down to visit the big, soft boy.
2300 settles down on the sofa with me and is really loving and then falls sleep after washing (see pics) purring contentedly.
Wednesday 18th July
0000 put all his stuff in the hall and one of his baskets on the landing. Once again he sniffs round the perimeter of the hall, stairs and landing with special sniffing at the spots where Baby used to lie. Introduce him to the bedroom and he jumps on the bed and plonks himself down hard next to me and wants to be loved. When he's had enough he stares at the sleeping Alan for a while and then continues with his exploration and sniffing of the house.
0230 shut the bedroom door an leave him in his basket on the landing. He meows on and off but not too loud so it doesn't wake Al. I am aware of the meowing for a while then I go to sleep.
0400 see below
0830 Ruby phones to ask me where the cat is - I don't know 'cause I'm asleep! Well, I was asleep. She woke up at 4am with a big thud on her bed! He had jumped over the gate, the barricades, the electric force field, the barbed wire and the rat poison to seek out her company. She was worried about him getting fur all over the bed. I think she should be worried about him jumping on her legs and bruising her - he's very heavy! He jumped on her window ledges in the bedroom and lounge. (Lou would have been very happy as he made those window ledges bigger for the cats to sit on and look out). He's used his dirt tray for a wee - cats are so clever. Also sat on Alan's lap in the study for a short while.
1100 he's got the run of the house - decided not to keep him shut up in one room.
